MALAWI VICE PRESIDENT OPENS TAMA 27TH ANNUAL CONGRESS
The Tobacco Association of Malawi (TAMA) held its 27th Annual Congress on 25th June 2015, in Lilongwe.
The country’s State Vice President Right Honourable Saulos Klaus Chilima Officially opened the Congress at the Sogecoa Golden Peacock Hotel. This year’s deliberations centered on the theme “ Sustainable Climate Change Mitigation Measures - A must in Tobacco Farming”. An expert in climate change issues was invited from South Africa in the name of David Pepler who specifically looked at issues on soil conservation, climate change mitigation and diversification.
The Congress among other dignitaries had The Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Chairperson Honourable Felix Jumbe, MP, The Lilongwe City Deputy Mayor, Councilor Bandawe, The Lilongwe City Central Constituency Member of Parliament Honourable D.Y. Bisnowaty, top government officials Tobacco Industry Captains.

The tobacco industry is characterized with corruption especially more
